David Borrelli,  you've just been elected co-president

of the renamed Europe of Freedom  and Direct Democracy Group.

First question, why "Direct Democracy"  when it was just "Democracy" before?

Because we believe  that we embody this new trend

of once again giving citizens  the opportunity to choose.

who have been elected  to the European Parliament

took part in an initial phase  where they were selected by the people.

They stood as Five Star Movement  candidates in the election

So the first part of the selection  process was done by the people.

It's a bit like our national parliament,

where a lot of laws  that are proposed within Parliament

have been through a process where  the people can modify or improve them.

What will your priorities be  for this five-year term?

Most of these points  concern the economy.

wherever possible,  in reviewing treaties,

especially since there's likely to be  a period of scrutiny

to see whether the treaties are working.

We can get involved  with the Fiscal Compact.

And since we've put "Direct Democracy"  in our name,

we'll try to get information out,  to make it available to all our citizens

so that they will also be able  to get involved.

Will you hold a referendum  on leaving the euro like you mentioned?

That's the last resort.  It's our seventh point.

So scrutinise these treaties,  get some of them abolished,

These things can all be done.  Eurobonds too.

then we'll let the citizens decide  whether or not to stay in the euro.

Forming this group has provoked  a lot of debate and argument.

There are already some very different  personalities within the Movement

and now you have to build a relationship  with the UK's UKIP party.

We're definitely pretty unanimous  in our views on economic issues...

So they agree with us on this issue  and back us up.

They don't like a Europe  where citizens aren't given choices.

about energy management and other things  where they have a very British view.

And belonging to the EU.  -Of course, belonging to the EU.

We've been very clear about  our positions on this since the outset

In the first plenary session  they decided to...

They turned their backs.  -And we didn't.

We can express our opinions  without any trouble.

Are you afraid  that people from your delegation

may turn  to a more cohesive political group

and believe that we can work together  as a group.

We're here to work, so we're aiming  to get on the committees that count

and to improve the things  that we believe need to be improved.

Can you tell us  about one of Grillo's initiatives

We've decided to adopt  a different approach in Europe.

Different from our approach  in the national parliament.

We've decided to reach out  to the other groups

to see if there's any opportunity  for dialogue

and participate in a way  that benefits our country.
