Ten young film makers from across Europe participated in this year's edition of The Contest, our award for short films on European topics. The jury had a hard time selecting the winner among contributions that were all excellent. Who will be the lucky one

Twenty young Europeans   in the spotlights.

The European Parliament webTV   is about to reward the best report

broadcasted in its magazine   'The Contest'.

This initiative was launched   with CIRCOM,

an association of European   regional TV channels.

The Contest Award is   a real European adventure.

Twenty young European journalists   working for European local channels.

They all wanted to improve   their journalistic talents

and took part in   the CIRCOM summer course,

which is an association   of European local public channels.

Ten reports were born   from this adventure.

These reports were broadcasted   on EuroparlTV all year long.

The specifications were simple:   talk about Europe.

They travelled throughout Europe to tell   stories with images as best they could.

This contest is a chance for them   to improve their talents.

The competing reports addressed   great European topics,

They didn't hesitate in   addressing unusual issues.

Issues range from   dodgy Eurovision backstage,

and curative little flesh-eating   fish in Turkey.

The aim is to create something nice,   something good,

something human and concrete   about Europe,

and to make this EuroparlTV-CIRCOM   award a reference,

The Contest Award 2009 will be given   in Strasbourg.

It will crown weeks of hard work.   Any takers?

The Contest Award 2010   will also be launched then.
