Differences remain in the subjects that girls and boys choose to study: MEPs believe that targeting school curricula could help break down gender stereotypes.

Are women’s brains different from men’s?  The question is meant to provoke.

Yet young women are much less likely  to choose to study technical subjects,

mathematics, science and engineering.  So why is that?

We have a lot of stereotypes in our society.

You can have advisers for girls  and of course for boys too,

but it would be very important to advice girls  on the fields they should choose,

because usually they go for  the field of education or care services,

The Committee on Women’s Rights voted  in favour of a series of recommendations

to encourage more girls  to study science-related subjects.

to increase the number of men working  in nurseries and primary education.

We need to have a good balance in  basically each and every sector of our life,

and also of course in school, in pre-school,  in kindergarten and in universities.

Some MEPs voted against the report,  finding it too ideological.
