Members of the European Parliament will question the president of the European Commission in the annual State of the European Union debate (SOTEU) in September.
 
The debate is traditionally the occasion when the European Parliament gets to hold the Commission to account on its track record over the past year and scrutinise its policy priorities.
 
This SOTEU is the final such debate before European elections in June 2024, so MEPs will be keen to look back at the track record of Ursula von der Leyen and her Commission since the last elections in 2019.
