SOUNDBITE (English), Anja HAZEKAMP (The Left, NL), COVID crisis has shown us how vulnerable we are. We have very long and complex food change. It's it's from a long distance from producer to consumer and food and animals are transported all over the world. And this strategy aims at more local and organic food production. So hopefully in the future, the supermarkets will not suffer from pandemics like COVID.

SOUNDBITE (English), Herbert DORFMANN (EPP, IT), Everything which comes after the farm. So transformation, elaboration and also distribution of food and consumer behaviour became more and more and more important. And I think from this point of view, this strategy is right to see, let's say, a whole approach, a broad approach in the food policy starting from the farm and going to the fork so to the consumer.

SOUNDBITE (English), Herbert DORFMANN (EPP, IT), I think COVID that changed a bit the mind of the people. For the first time, we saw empty supermarkets in the first weeks of the pandemic. And I think this changed a bit the opinion, at least for our generation. We never saw this before in Europe and we understood that food security, so availability of food, is still important even in Europe.
