Véronique TRILLET-LENOIR (Renew, FR), rapporteur of the Special EP Committee for Beating Cancer (BECA), gives a statement on the Europe's first Beating Cancer Plan. The plan is structured around four key areas: prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment, and improving quality of life. There are multiple supporting actions, along ten flagship initiatives.

I would have liked that this plan makes a stronger link with the Green Deal. I would have liked that this plan focuses more on the workplace health because it seems to me that this is really a major topic. In what concerns the treatments, it is a plan that will improve the quality of the treatments and also the training of different professionals.

SOUNDBITE (French), V&#233;ronique TRILLET-LENOIR (RE, FR), rapporteur of the Special EP Committee for Beating Cancer, This pandemic allowed us, in any case, it allowed me to discover together with my patients that the telemedicine needs to be developed because it showed us that there are many patients that may need to go to the hospital and they went during this pandemic but also it showed me that every three months or every six months I was able to do telemedicine consultations. I have received the results of the patient's exams, they explained me how they felt and in this way we could avoid going to the hospital. But it is certain that in the future it will be necessary to find ways to better protect cancer patients and, indeed, patients with chronic diseases when there are health crises of this magnitude.
