A Civil Liberties Committee delegation is in Ljubljana to assess the situation regarding the rule of law and media freedom in Slovenia. SOUNDBITE (Slovenian), Igor ZORČIČ, President of the Slovenian National Assembly, As you are aware, I got a meeting with members of the Home Affairs and Justice Committee in the European Parliament. The members of the Committee are in Slovenia and on a mission to identify the situation related to democracy freedom of the media in this regard have asked me some questions. I think that the meeting was constructive and that we found ourselves in this unenviable situation when they come from Europe. 

SOUNDBITE (Slovenian), Igor ZORČIČ, President of the Slovenian National Assembly, It is verified whether there is still democracy and media freedom in Slovenia, that in these situations we are obliged to respond to such meetings. As I mentioned, the meeting was fruitful. We talked about certain matters concerning the media and the work of the National Assembly, actually more about governing by decrees and about the relationship to laws. And I think all the members of the committee have actually endorsed this picture they already have. After a conversation with the presidents of other institutions of the Republic of Slovenia.
