Cold War tactics, new world technologies.

Disinformation and propaganda have  always been tools of war used by all sides.

But in the internet age  they reach new heights.

against Russia and  its distorting narratives over Ukraine,

against Daesh, with its fanatical  online postings and recruitment drives.

The Russian policy line  has become more aggressive

and more pushy  towards its neighbourhood.

And information - as warfare,  as a hybrid means of influence -

is more frequently used  against the neighbourhood,

And we see this as troublesome  for our population.

Mr Auštrevičius is the co-author of a report  before EP's Foreign Affairs Committee

to strengthen  counter-propaganda measures,

including more collaboration  between Member States and with NATO

We are late to follow new trends  and new developments.

Our system of international law  is built around traditional threats,

and this is something we have to address.

It's important that we cooperate with NATO.

The report doesn't force  the Commission to act.

Nonetheless, it's clear both, and NATO,  are reading from the same page

The report is scheduled  to go before full plenary in November.
