It's a symbolic moment,  where I as Vice-President

challenge another Vice-President  as to the voting order,

about the EP's calendar of meetings  in Brussels and Strasbourg.

74% of the European members  of parliament want a single seat for the EP

That's what it's all about,  that's what this was about.

This is when a right-wing member  of the European Parliament from the UK

called a German member, in fact the  President of Parliament, basically a Nazi.

This is intolerable language and I think  the EP must stand up for certain values -

yes, free speech, but within limits -  so I threw him out.

I had to go down and tell him to go  as he refused to leave his seat.

When I was first elected 30 years ago, the  EP was a talking shop with no real powers

except for persuasion,  now it has legislative powers

equal to those  of the 28 governments of the EU

on almost every topic,  except incidentally where the EP meets.

and if you vote Liberal,  you're on the winning side

because the Liberal Group in the EP  is on the winning side on 90% of votes.
