But it is also the physical, cultural, political and historical place across Europe. It is the very symbolism of Europe.

SOUNDBITE (French), Dominique RIQUET (Renew, FR), Co-Rapporteur, - I think that first of all, we will put constraints on the dates of completion. We will try to improve governance. We will try to increase our resources in quotation marks and we will integrate new elements such as resilience, climate change, environmental performance, urban nodes, which are very important, and then the revision of train stations. There are many, many new things and we hope that the Council will follow up.

It will be difficult and I think we have to do everything we can to get there because we are also pressed by climate, economic, historical and geopolitical deadlines.

SOUNDBITE (English), Barbara THALER (EPP, AT), Co-Rapporteur, It is indeed important to have a European transport area because the 27 National transport areas alone cannot do the job and the Transport and Transport Network regulation is at the cornerstone of the European transport infrastructure.

And TEN-T is the exaclty right thing to do because to be very honest, beside all goals and initiatives, we are far away from meeting our transport targets. For example, the the modal shift from road to rail is simply not happening.

SOUNDBITE (English), Barbara THALER (EPP, AT), Co-Rapporteur, Of course the European transport area and the European transport system has to have a very strong connection to our neighbouring countries and it can help a lot, especially when it comes to Ukraine and and rolled out if you need to transport very heavy goods over a very long distance then really is the mode to go. And so this is why it is very important to have the European fiscal also in, in our neighbouring countries, especially Ukraine and Moldova now more than ever.
