SOUNDBITE (French), Christine de DE VEYRAC (EPP, FR), We all want to have efficient investigations curried out by competed offices whit the necessary results is to work properly so the offices of inquiry can use the authorities responsible for safety which will make up the difference of level between the enquirers offices of the different member states and allows to have 27 different offices of the same level. We feel the same about the report of the event at the analysis of data has to be at the European level because this reveals the trans-up stream and perhaps avoid serious of small accident leading one day to an accident. It is an unique opportunity to substantially increase air safety. It will be really damaging for our citizens if we will have one day an accident. We really must take in to account this opportunity.

SOUNDBITE (French), Christine de DE VEYRAC (EPP, FR), On the question of the victim support I think that we do have a consensus on the fact that current rules are insufficient and this will allow us to step out the end and reinforce the help to the families in case of accident.

SOUNDBITE (English), Vilja SAVISAAR-TOOMAST (ALDE, EE), When we talk about data for the relatives of the families we simply believe that this documents need to deal with incidents and accidents and mostly with the safety. What's here is something different, and there is always a danger that this kind of data might be used for other purposes. I'm talking about the air traffic industry that can use it for their owns means. We are afraid that this kind of data might be misused. This is why we are opposing that amendment.

SOUNDBITE (German), Eva LICHTENBERGER (Greens/EFA, AT), I think the Parliament is quite entitled indeed, obliged to make sure that we get our demand across. This is what the prevention is all about in the broaden sense of the term. We need it in order to survive in the enormous competitive situation in the air, in the aviation industry. In order to do that we need protection from the so called weasel blowers if we don't' get good information from the circles which are closed to the event that we are remaining in the theoretical and prevention will fail.
