SOUNDBITE (English), Roberta METSOLA, EP President, Dear colleagues, also last week, on the World Press Freedom Day, the European Parliament launched its third edition of the Daphn&eacute; Caruana Galizia Prize for Journalism, a prize that rewards outstanding journalism in defence of the European Union's core values.

SOUNDBITE (English), Roberta METSOLA, EP President, This year, as the Wall Street journalist Evan Gershkovich, who remains detained in Russia, our prize takes on an even more important significance. And from here in this spirit, I will reiterate our call for his safe release, because journalists must be able to do their job without fearing for their lives or their freedom.
