SOUNDBITE (English), Mads BR&#220;GGER , Director of &quot;Cold Case Hammarskjold&quot;, Because more than 50 years having passed, some archives have opened up and new witnesses have appeared. People who, because I think of old age, are ready to spill the beans. So within the last 10 years, a, you know, sort of critical mass have appeared, which points toward a conspiracy to kill the general secretary and also calls for more investigations.

But that is something you fully understand and realize once you go to Ndola in Zambia where the plane crashed in 1961, when you get a feeling of the lay of the land and when you meet the remaining black witnesses, because what they saw and heard and experienced definitely points towards the plane being brought down and hammarskjold being assassinated. Still, you know, the official explanation is pilot error, which does not, in my mind makes sense at all. Recently, the UN published their latest report about the event, which is leaning towards a conspiracy to kill Hammarskjold, and I'm sure in the end, the smoking gun will appear. It is to be found in archives in the US and in the UK and possibly also South Africa.

SOUNDBITE (English), Mads BR&Uuml;GGER , Director of "Cold Case Hammarskjold",  The Commission of Jurists, which was a joint commission consisting of Dutch and British jurists. They did a review of all the new testimonies and evidence, and part of that was the testimony of a former NSA officer named Charles Southhall, who overheard the plane being brought down at a signal relay station on Cyprus. He processed that material and shipped it off to Washington. The Commission of Jurists asked for that file to be disclosed. Basically, a file which contains the killing of Dag Hammarskjold. The answer of the US secret services was that yes, that file exists, but due to state security you can not have it. So indirectly they are admitting that that file exists, which is basically the smoking gun.

And that really, you know, creates the narrative in a way.
