Firstly, the reform of the carbon market in order to make our industries really pay the real price of carbon, namely around EUR 80 cents per ton of CO2 and a very strong incentive to accelerate the ecological transition of these industries and, de facto, to penalize those who, conversely, would not play the game. Another example is that at the moment we are putting a very high carbon price on our industries. We must, of course, ensure fair competition, because it would be unacceptable for our industries to compete with players who, for their part, only pay €0 per ton of CO2.

And there was a refusal by a majority in Parliament, which I share, not to take this political risk, namely to extend the price of carbon that works for businesses to individuals on the home heating or fuel bill. Because we know, in France, we've seen it with the yellow vests, but we've seen it in other European countries, it's too sensitive a subject. In addition, in a context of very high energy prices, and we preferred not to take this risk.

Parliament will have voted its position in June and I believe that we still need six months to converge our two approaches and have the final negotiation so that we have all the key European texts voted by the end of the year and which can then be deployed to achieve our very ambitious climate goals in 2030.
