Two consecutive meetings at the highest political level took place at Prague Castle in early October. On October 7, an informal meeting of the European Council took place, after a first meeting of the European Political Community on October 6.

The first meeting of the European Political Community brought together leaders from across the continent in a spirit of unity. The European Political Community aims to foster political dialogue and cooperation to address issues of common interest and strengthen the security, stability and prosperity of the European continent. Besides the EU 27 leaders, Albania, Armenia, Bosnia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom and other countries were invited.

On 7 October, EU leaders discussed the three most pressing, and interlinked issues facing the EU, namely Russia's war in Ukraine, energy and the economic situation.
