SOUNDBITE (French), Nicolas Philibert, Director of On the Adamant, &ldquo;On the Adamant&rdquo; is a very surprising place. It is a psychiatric day center located on the Seine, in the heart of Paris. It's not really a boat. It does not sail, but it is a floating building and it is a beautiful place open to the world. I heard about it a long time ago. I was invited there a few years ago to meet with a group of patients. It impressed me a lot and I wanted to make a movie there. A film in which I would show a psychiatry who is trying to resist this steamroller that is crushing health and psychiatry in particular today. A place where there are workshops and in which patients are considered primarily as people.

Without seeing that they are primarily people, people like you and me, without seeing that madness is something that is part of our humanity.

SOUNDBITE (French), Nicolas Philibert, Director of On the Adamant, When you are a psychiatric nurse and you no longer have time to take care of patients, to be with them, to build things. After a while you change jobs. So these people are being replaced by temporary workers. Mental health means taking your time and listening. I hope that the movie can help to understand. Viewers in general who see the movie quickly understand it, so why wouldn't political leaders understand?

I am very happy and very touched to know that it will be shown in the 27 countries of the European Community and subtitled in the 24 languages of the European Community. I think that's great. I think it's beautiful. Movies cross borders, and make it possible to cross borders. There is something universal in images, in cinema, in the language of cinema. It's something that goes beyond and pulverizes this idea of borders. And this seems to me to be all the more important today as we must continue to fight to build and maintain this Europe.
