Loss of life, violence and inhumane treatment against people seeking international protection at the Spanish-Moroccan border: MEPs debate

Dozens of persons were killed on 24 June in clashes with the Moroccan security forces at the border between Spain and Morocco, following an attempt to cross the fence into the Spanish enclave of Melilla. In the plenary debate, MEPs demand member states ensure humane treatment of all persons seeking international protection at their borders and are set to reiterate their calls for legal channels to enter the EU.
