SOUNDBITE (English), Mary HONEYBALL (S&amp;D, UK), I think we are all very concerned about what is happening in Calais, in the so called 'Calais jungle'. It looks as if the French are going to bulldoze the camp, so just get rid of it, and disperse all those who are there around France in some containers pre-fab buildings near Calais. The concern is - and I know it is the concern of charities working there, as 'Medicins sans fronti&egrave;res' - that not everyone will be find places. So there will be quite a large number of displaced refugees with nowhere to go.

SOUNDBITE (English), Mary HONEYBALL (S&amp;D, UK), European governments really do have to work together, and each EU member state should take its share of refugees, so that the concerned people, the refugees, and indeed women and child really have a chance of reasonable life.

SOUNDBITE (English), Claude MORAES (S&amp;D, FR), As chair of the LIBE Committee the most important thing about the Calais crises is that we are now seeing a movement of people, and it's now critical that this is done in accordance with the law. Not just the law of France, but also the European law that applies in terms of asylum, which France signed up to, and also to international law, international refugee law, humanitarian law. Many of these people, whether they have a legitimate refugee case, under the Geneva convention, or not, must be treated humanely, and must have their cases examined.

SOUNDBITE (French), Sylvie GUILLAUME (S&amp;D, FR), I'm very shoked by this situation. I think that it is difficult to conceive in XXI century to have such life condition. So, I know it's about my own member state, but I try to be fair and honest: when I criticise a situation elsewhere in Europe so I think we also have to see where are we now.

SOUNDBITE (French), Sylvie GUILLAUME (S&amp;D, FR), The question of taking care of refugees and migrants, should be subject to a collective shared and solidarity dimension. So far what I can see -   in this domain, as in others -  it is not the case.
