They enable individuals and companies to earn recognition and/or financial benefit from what they invent or create. By striking the right balance between innovators and public interest, intellectual property aims to foster an environment in which creativity and innovation can flourish. But despite impressive patent activity, European businesses still encounter various challenges to register or protect patents. EPRS - Key challenges for European patents

Parlaments diskutēja par to, vai vajadzētu atteikties no Covid-19 vakcīnu patentiem, un pieņēma iekļaujošāku Erasmus+ programmu. Darba kārtībā bija arī klimats – eirodeputāti apstiprināja Taisnīgas pārkārtošanās fondu, lai palīdzētu reģioniem pielāgoties pārejai uz zaļo ekonomiku, un aicināja ES aktīvāk rīkoties vides aktīvistu aizsardzības jomā. Eirodeputāti arī apsprieda Izraēlas un Palestīnas konflikta eskalāciju.

Parlaments atkārtoja savu aicinājumu nodrošināt brīvu piekļuvi augu selekcionēšanas izejmateriālam. Deputāti vēlas nodrošināt, ka lauksaimnieki visā ES var radīt inovatīvus produktus, meklējot risinājumus klimata krīzei un jaunajām augu slimībām. Nedrīkstētu pieļaut, ka bagāti starptautiskie uzņēmumi patentē dabīgus augus, radot monopolus un veicinot pārtikas cenu pieaugumu.

Nekādu patentu uz dabiski iegūtiem augiem un sēklām

Pēdējais posms vienota ES patenta ieviešanā ir grūts uzdevums, taču jaunā, vienkāršotā sistēma sola samazināt izmaksas par līdz pat 32 000 eiro par patentu.

Samazinot atklājumu patentēšanas izmaksas

Vienotais ES patents nāks par labu ES uzņēmumiem, tā uzskata Rafaels Baldasars. Sofija int Velda nosauc pamattiesību pārkāpējus Eiropā.

7 dienas Eiropā: Cīņa par labākām tiesībām un ES patents

Pēc 30 gadus ilgušajām sarunām šis varētu būt ES vienotā patenta galīgais tiesību akts. Mēs runājām ar vācu eirodeputātu Bernhardu Rapkaju un spāņu eirodeputātu Antonio Masipu Hidalgo.

Viedoklis: ES patents, pēdējā astotdaļjūdze?

Eirodeputāti cenšas panākt progresu ES patenta jomā, apšauba dalībvalstu godīgumu un pauž viedokli par Spānijas banku glābšanu, bet zemnieki pieprasa labākas piena cenas.

Pēc vētras, ko radīja Padomes vienpusējais lēmums mainīt tekstu, par ko bija panākta vienošanās, eirodeputāti mierīgi apsver Eiropas vienotā patenta nākotni.

Acīmredzami problemātisks

ASV tie maksā €2000, bet Eiropā - līdz pat €40 000. Vienotajam ES patentam šis process būtu jāpadara vienkāršāks un lētāks, taču tā īstenošana ir sarežģīta.

Izgudrojumu aizsardzība visā ES drīz būs iespējama par mazākiem līdzekļiem, taču ļaunums slēpjas sīkumos.
