To celebrate Europe Day, the EU institutions open their doors to the public on 5 May in Brussels, 5 and 9 May in Luxembourg and 10 June in Strasbourg.

Following the attack on Israel by the Islamist militant group Hamas on 7th October, the European Parliament shows its solidarity with Israel by floating the flag in front of its buildings.

Giorgio NAPOLITANO (29 June 1925 – 22 September 2023) was an Italian politician who served as the President of Italy from 2006 to 2015, the first to be re-elected to the office. He was the longest-serving and longest-lived president in the history of the Italian Republic since 1946. He is considered one of the symbols of the "Second Italian Republic". Napolitano has been also elected twice (1989-1992 and 1999-2004) as Member of the European Parliament. This footage shows the tribute given to him by putting the Italian flags at half-mast at the European Parliament's buildings in Brussels.
