The European Citizen's Prize award ceremony reunited the 2020 and 2021 edition winners in the European Parliament. This award recognises initiatives that contribute to European cooperation and the promotion of values from the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. MEP Dita CHARANZOVÁ (Renew, CZ), Chancellor of the Prize, welcomed and awarded the diplomas to the winners in the European Parliament. SOUNDBITE (English), COX Catherine , Representor of the 2020 Irish winning project , A huge challenge, I suppose, that faced family care at the start of the pandemic was that they were not prioritised for personal protective equipment (PPE) : so for gloves, masks and gel for their hands. So one of the first things that "Family Carers Ireland" as a charity did : we started to source, package and distribute PPE to family carers across Ireland. So we literally set up a mini factory in my own home and we packaged it and we got it out to about three and a half thousand family carers who could not get access to it.
