SOUNDBITE (English), Roberta METSOLA, EP President, Schengen will not be complete until Romania is firmly in it. I hope that during my mandate as president of the European Parliament, we will be able to see Romania under Schengen Area and today it is still my full commitment that that happens. We have a big decision that is coming at the end of this month on the 31st of March. First step, not complete, but you have a lot of friends, you have a lot of supporters, and everything is being done for that to happen.

I think it makes a big difference that I'm talking to you here, rather than I'm talking to you from a screen from Brussels or Strasbourg. Two: that online hostility has reached an unprecedented high. It is difficult to be in politics. It is much more difficult to be a woman in politics. We need the regulators and the platforms to help us, and we have at the moment engaged in making agreements with tech platforms in order to help us for the European elections.

SOUNDBITE (English), Roberta METSOLA, EP President, How are we going to do in terms of making sure that the only option you have if you live in a rural area is to go to a capital city? That's not the Europe for us. We need to make sure that there is equality of access to health, to education, to services, to internet connectivity, to opportunity to find jobs, and I will go a step further: to start your own company.
