During the plenary (5-8 October) of the European Parliament in Brussels, MEPs vote on a more ambitious 2030 emissions reduction target. The European climate law aims to transform political promises that the EU will become climate-neutral by 2050 into a binding obligation, to give European citizens and businesses the legal certainty and predictability they need to plan for the transformation.

SOUNDBITE (English), Jytte GUTELAND (S&amp;D, SE), Rapporteur,  Majority have voted to have 60 percent reduction to 2030. I believe this is a very strong signal in front of the negotiations during the fall that the Parliament sees that the 10 first years are crucial if we should respect the Paris agreement and also for reaching, of course, its goal with this law to have climate neutrality in the EU.

And that means that we actually says that everyone needs to be on time and everyone needs to respect this law.
