On 10 February, the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) adopted its position on proposed new rules governing the entire battery product life cycle, from design to end-of-life. MEPs are set to demand stronger sustainability and performance requirements and more stringent targets for waste collection, recycling efficiency and material recovery. They also want the battery industry to follow internationally recognised due diligence standards across their entire value chain.
