European leaders agreed on a €50 billion Ukraine aid package. The 27 European Union Member States unanimously agreed to commit 17 billion euros in grants and 33 billion euros in loans to help Ukraine for the next four years.
Leaders met on a special European Council in Brussels on 1 February 2024. The decision had been postponed from last European Council meeting on December because of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's opposition.
The aid package is set to be included in a revised EU budget, which means that it required unanimous approval from the 27 leaders.
