Kuvaus

Plastics pervade modern life. Global plastics production has been multiplied by 20 since the 1960s and is expected to double by 2036.

In May 2018, the European Commission put forward a legislative proposal seeking to address the issue of marine litter from plastics. The proposal builds on the 2015 circular economy action plan, which announced 'action to fulfil the objective of significantly reducing marine litter', and on the Strategy for plastics in a circular economy published in January 2018.
