SOUNDBITE (English), Catherine DE BOLLE, selected candidate for the post of Executive Director of Europol, Information management is core business for Europol and Europol needs to be capable of processing all the information it gets. Europol needs also to be prepared for the information of tomorrow, the new information.

SOUNDBITE (Spanish), Agust&#237;n D&#205;AZ DE MERA GARC&#205;A CONSUEGRA (EPP, ES), I would like to ask you which measures are you envisaging to take in order to more efficiently tackle cybercrime?

SOUNDBITE (English), Catherine DE BOLLE, selected candidate for the post of Executive Director of Europol, I strongly believe in network organisations to give an answer to the future because Europol cannot do this on its own. Europol, the EC3 is at top level and we have to keep this top level, and we have to be as Europol organisation at the top of innovation in everything that is going on in cybercrime, but this means that we need experts and we have to connect to the rest of the security sector or involved in cybercrime, private sector, other police organisations in the world and law enforcement organisations.

SOUNDBITE (English), Ana GOMES (S&amp;D, PT), From your Belgian experience what are the most important lessons in the fight against terrorism that you bring into Europol based on the mistakes, the falls or the lessons learned in Belgium?

SOUNDBITE (English), Catherine DE BOLLE, selected candidate for the post of Executive Director of Europol, From my own experience, I was very happy when after the attacks in Brussels I got a phone call from the Hague to offer a mobile office to our country, and to offer operational analysis to us. This operational analysis was of key importance to put the links between different authors in Belgium and in some other countries of Europe.

SOUNDBITE (English), Catherine DE BOLLE, selected candidate for the post of Executive Director of Europol, The information exchange is going up, we had more than 1 million messages exchanged in 2017 through the secure network of SIENA. It clearly shows that member states are involved and that the awareness is there. But is it enough? It can always be better.
