Croatia joins the European Union and become the 28th Member State. Martin SCHULZ, EP President, attends the ceremony of the Accession of Croatia at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. He welcomes Josip LEKO, Speaker of the Parliament of Croatia, at the Agora Geremek. Croatian flag is raised together with the European flag. Afterwards newly elected Croatian MEPs follow Martin SCHULZ for their first plenary session.
