With high rates of unemployment in Europe, the European Jobs Network EURES provides a welcome mine of employment opportunities and services.

Taking the sting out of cross-border job hunting

EURES, the European Jobs Network,  hosts around 6,000 employers.

Yet only 3% of the available  European labour force are mobile.

Set up in 1993, the European Jobs Network

was designed to facilitate  the free movement of workers

At the heart of reform: the inclusion  of a maximum number of jobs services.

Now we want push hard  to involve the private employments services

We want to involve the regional  employment agencies.

We want to include the social partners  when they make job offers.

We want to include NGOs when they do so.

nobody can be compelled to take a job  advertised on EURES

and nobody can have their benefits cut  if they don't.

It's a service to make it easier  for people want it.

And there are millions and millions  and millions of people across the EU

who do indeed desperately  want to find work.
