Giorgio NAPOLITANO (29 June 1925 – 22 September 2023) was an Italian politician who served as the President of Italy from 2006 to 2015, the first to be re-elected to the office. He was the longest-serving and longest-lived president in the history of the Italian Republic since 1946. He is considered one of the symbols of the "Second Italian Republic". Napolitano has been also elected twice (1989-1992 and 1999-2004) as Member of the European Parliament.
