We have stood with their families and with the repressed civil society in Belarus, and we will continue to do so today to mark the day of solidarity with Belarus. The European Parliament has launched a symbolic and strategic action to shine a light on the plight of Lukashenko's 1500 political prisoners, and to remind those detained and tortured that they will not be forgotten. </p>

I will sign one in particular to a woman whose husband I met in Vilnius a few weeks ago, firstly to give them hope. Their struggle encapsulates the hope of an entire nation for liberty, prosperity and democracy. Secondly, to reinforce our solidarity with all those who are repressed. And thirdly, to show that we are with them and that their sacrifice will not remain unanswered. We know their names. We see their struggle, and we recognize their courage.
