MEPs then proceeded to voting on the amendments, leading to the final amended text being adopted. When the extreme right, the ultranationalists, the European conservatives, come together, they can derail essential policies and policies as important as Nature policies. And I say this, because we are going to enter into electoral processes that will finally end in less than a year, with the European elections, the next takes place in Spain. If deniers are in the majority, policies that we think are essential, that we think are mandatory, can be disrupted, almost mandatory. However, it cost us 12 votes in one vote and, in the following votes, by 36 and 38. I mean, we won. But, when the right meets the extreme right, very good policies can be disrupted, above all, it can prevent us from moving forward and it can be backwards. And this is a message that I want to make clear through your medium, because I have just left the plenary session and you have seen it. And this isn't science fiction. This is not something that people can imagine. This real, this is real. Therefore, the main message is that we have won, but they are close and therefore we must be stronger, so that regression and denial do not prevail.   <p></p>

<p>SOUNDBITE (Spanish), C&eacute;sar LUENA (S&amp;D, ES), Rapporteur, What has happened so far is that we have never let down our arms, that we have defended the role of Parliament, which means that Parliament could not be an obstacle, it could not block Parliament, it had to allow the necessary procedure to be carried out for this law to be passed. I hope that by the end of the year, in the Committee on the Environment, we will stop that alliance of ultra-conservatives, anti-Europeans and those of the right and of the extreme right. We reversed a situation that had begun in the Agriculture and Fisheries Committees, where they had been the majority, but the ENVI stopped them. We stopped them here. Not only have we stopped them, but we have won them. And this means that thanks to the impetus of the Spanish Presidency, we will start the trilogues right now. I cannot say the date, but, right now, we will start the dialogue between the Council, the Member States, the Parliament and the European Commission. And that's very good news, because if we start right now, I think we can have a good Law of Nature ready to restore degraded ecosystems and habitats and the poor state, and to finally be an example in the world. Europe has been at international summits, boasting of very good environmental policies. What we wanted to do today was to stop the European Green Deal in its tracks. We have not let the European Pact stop in its tracks. On the contrary, we are moving forward.</p>

SOUNDBITE (Spanish), C&eacute;sar LUENA (S&amp;D, ES), Rapporteur, I think that there are many things to change and after what we have had to negotiate with everyone, so that there would be a majority which is what we have achieved, that there would be a majority. I think that some things can be corrected, but that we can introduce more ambitious aspects of funding, public participation, while preserving with great flexibility the role of the Member States and with a lot of understanding the need for time to adapt to the new policies, to farmers, to ranchers, to fishermen, to innovators. And I look at you, at those who are in the primary sector, this law is only, only for nature. It is not against anyone, it is not against you, it has never been the purpose. It's a manipulation, a gross lie. This law of nature is good for ecosystems, it's good for their jobs and for their future as well.
