So as you know, we voted this morning on the five texts of the package of eight. Three will be voted this afternoon on the five texts. Two were voted the last two ones regarding aviation. So ETS aviation is passed. It's widely supported and it's very good central for CORSIA. So I do not comment on that. If you have questions, I will get back, of course.

SOUNDBITE (English), Pascal CANFIN (Renew, FR), ENVI Committee Chair, I mean, the main question is what happened for the ETS, Social Climate Fund and CBAM. So what we saw is that on one vote, which is the date of the end of relocation and the date of the start of the CBAM, so the start of the phasing out of relocation, so they are always to dates. The first to be submitted to the vote was 25/30. So you start CBAM in 2025, and you end free allocation in 2030. It was the ENVI position. It was voted down as expected.

SOUNDBITE (English), Pascal CANFIN (Renew, FR), ENVI Committee Chair, Then we had a deal Renew-S&D on 26/32. We start phasing out free allocation 2026, and full CBAM in 2032. This deal was supposed to be the deal which would have brought the majority. This deal was voted down by 11 votes. So six MEPs were supposed to vote in favour, voted against, which means that it was a key vote, so it was voted down.

SOUNDBITE (English), Pascal CANFIN (Renew, FR), ENVI Committee Chair, Then we move to the next option, which was starting in 2028, and ending up in 2034. And this passed. And it was a key vote for the Greens, for S&D and for the Left. So we went through the whole voting list and we end up with the final vote. And with the final vote we have a key vote from the left, the Greens and S&D voting against the whole text, plus ECR and ID voting against the whole text for the opposite reasons.

SOUNDBITE (English), Pascal CANFIN (Renew, FR), ENVI Committee Chair, And at the end you have only EPP and Renew voting in favour of the text. It doesn't make a majority. The text is voted down. So that's what happened. So that's why we need to go back to the to the ENVI committee, And solve this issue, which is related to only one vote in two days. So we will work on that.

SOUNDBITE (English), Pascal CANFIN (Renew, FR), ENVI Committee Chair, Then why did we decided to postpone as well the vote for social climate, and for CBAM? Because the three texts are interrelated. So if you vote something in CBAM, then it has to be translated into its and the opposite. So if you refrain from voting on ETS because there is no majority and it is referred back to ENVI, of course you have to do the same for the next, for the two, for the social climate fund and for the CBAM, otherwise you end up with something which is not consistent.

SOUNDBITE (English), Pascal CANFIN (Renew, FR), ENVI Committee Chair, So it's rather clear and we know what we have to do. We will do it as fast as possible. As fast as possible. So I'm just taking now, what are the formal rules to go as fast as possible. Referring back to ENVI Committee, back to the plenary as soon as we have a deal which is stable. Stable means we know that when we go to the plenary we have a majority. That's where we are. And this deal could be made this afternoon, could be made in two weeks, could be made in July.
