Reasonable ticket prices may draw in bigger audiences in the US, but world renowned European film festivals put Europe's prolific cinema scene in the limelight each year.

Europeans love cinema  and cinema is also European.

The European Parliament itself  also awards a film prize each year

to a European film,  known as the Lux Prize.

After India,  the EU produces the most films

In 2013, 1,546 feature films  were made in total.

The other major producers  are in Nigeria, the US and China.

If we compare the number of tickets sold  in proportion to the population,

the Americans  are the most avid cinema goers.

Indians have half the appetite,  and Europeans still a bit less.

Maybe it’s due to the price of tickets!

For an evening screening, people in  Sweden have to pay €11.20 on average.

it’s around €10 in Denmark and Finland.
