The winner of the  LUX - European Audience Film Award 2024 is  ‘The Teachers’ Lounge’
The LUX Award is an instrument for highlighting and reflecting on films that deal with social and political themes. It aims at encouraging debate and reflection and using films to help build a stronger European identity.

The LUX European Audience Film Award ceremony takes place in Parliament’s hemicycle in Brussels. Parliament and the European Film Academy award the LUX prize to help the distribution of European films with significant artistic merit that reflect cultural diversity in Europe and beyond. Teacher's lounge is the winner of the 2024 edition of the prize. Five films were shortlisted for the 2024 LUX Audience Award: Teacher's lounge by Ilker ÇATAK, Smoke sauna sisterhood by Anna HINTS, Film Adamant by Nicolas PHILIBERT, Fallen leaves by Aki KAURISMÄKI, and 2000 species of bees by Estibaliz URRESOLA SOLAGUREN.

The five nominated films have been announced during the Venice film festival for the LUX Audience Award 2024: "20 000 Species of Bees" by Spanish director Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren, "Fallen Leaves" by Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki, "On the Adamant" by French director Nicolas Philibert, "Smoke Sauna Sisterhood" by Estonian director Anna Hints, "The Teachers' Lounge", directed by Ilker Çatak and produced in Germany. The audience and the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) are invited to rate the films online. The film that receives the highest overall ranking from the public and the MEPs, with each group being weighted at 50%, will be the winner of the LUX Audience Award. The winner will be announced at the LUX Audience Award Ceremony, which will take place in the European Parliament in March 2024.
