<p>The European Union and Georgia’s close relationship is based on the "EU Georgia Association Agreement" that includes&nbsp;a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA).</p>

<p>The&nbsp;DCFTA entered into force in July 2016 and strives for political association and economic integration. The EU remains committed to supporting a strong, independent and prosperous Georgia via a firm&nbsp;support to the country's&nbsp;territorial independence within its internationally recognised borders,&nbsp;political dialogue, as well as cooperation and assistance programmes.&nbsp;</p>
