This is the story of Serge Klarsfeld, a French historian, writer and lawyer who was born in Bucharest, Romania, in 1935. And this is how his story, and that of his family, begins: a story which is intertwined with the history of France. <p>The House of European History is located in Parc Léopold, in the heart of the European district, close to the European Parliament in Brussels. The 25-acre park is on the site of the former Royal Zoological Garden and was opened to the public in 1880. The building itself has been painstakingly renovated in line with its 1930s origins, when it was a dental clinic for disadvantaged children.</p>

The House of European History in Brussels opens a new Exhibition on the history of waste in Europe. Starting with the industrial revolution, ‘’Throwaway’’ brings us on a journey through wartime scarcity, the surge in post-war consumerism, and finishes with today’s insurmountable waste crisis. The House of European History (HEH) inuagurated in 2017 aims to encourage citizens to reflect upon and debate about the history of Europe and of European integration.
