Introductory remarks by Antonio TAJANI, EP President, on on terrorist attack in Marseille, on  Las Vegas mass shooting, on Canada attack- Minute of silence

SOUNDBITE (Italian), Antonio TAJANI, EP President, <p>Attacking women is an attacking something that is most precious to us all. And on behalf of the EP I would like to say that we stand by the families of those ladies who were killed in Marseille at the weekend. And we express solidarity from Europe. We are here in defence of the values in which we believe. We are not going to look aside and we shall not change our way of living either. We will keep going until we have defeated terrorism.</p>

SOUNDBITE (Italian), Antonio TAJANI, EP President, Some minutes ago, a press release from ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack in Las Vegas today, nobody can explain what moves an individual to commit such an atrocity against fellow human beings. Certainly the authorities in the USA have not confirmed the terrorist nature of the attack to Las Vegas. On behalf of the EP we wish to express our full support and our condolences to those who have been affected by this dreadful attack. We are talking here about innocent victims and families who have lost their loved ones in tragic circumstances. The emergency services have responded valiantly to to protect citizens. And I would also like to refer to the victims of the attack last Saturday in Edmonton, Canada. I wish the Chamber to stand in memory of these innocent victims.
