European Parliament adopted two EU funds (Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund - €9.88 billion and the Integrated Border Management Fund - €6.24 billion) to help member states manage migration flows, ease integration of third-country nationals and enhance border management. SOUNDBITE (English), Tanja FAJON (S&amp;D, SI), Rapporteur, The European Union will in the next 7 years, from the EU budget, dedicate a lot of money for our asylum, migration and integration. So the fund will be more than 9 billion euros and it will for sure ensure much more solidarity.

SOUNDBITE (English), Tanja FAJON (S&amp;D, SI), Rapporteur, So it's something that European Union recognizes, we need to invest in better management of migration, better management of integration and asylum procedures.

SOUNDBITE (Slovenian), Tanja FAJON (S&amp;D, SI), Rapporteur, The EU will earmark more funds for relocation and resettlement of refugees. There will be more funds made available for asylum procedures and for the integration of people into societies and local communities. Will have a bigger role since we have direct financing. This will be key for success of integration.

Helping people in need of international protection to safety and to fund provides the financial firepower to achieve this ambition. Creating and creating incentives for member states to effectively resettle people and allowing member states to organise projects to support refugees. The fund supports legal pathways to Europe, helping talent to thrive and our businesses to prosper. The fund supports integration and inclusion by helping people to build new homes and new lives in Europe.

SOUNDBITE (English), Jeroen LENAERS (EPP, NL), We triple the size of the budget to more than 10, almost 10 billion to also really reflect the magnitude of the challenges that we are facing. And these challenges are diverse. Member states need our assistance to fight illegal migration, to make solidarity a reality, to ensure good reception conditions, to effectively integrate refugees, and to make sure that those who cannot stay are also returned to their country of origin. And yes, this is in essence, an internal EU fund that we does not make the mistake of ignoring the external factors of migration. We need to work with countries of origin and transit to fight smuggling networks together, to support reintegration projects and to offer perspectives in the region.

SOUNDBITE (French), Fabienne KELLER (Renew, FR), I'm thinking of european agencies such as Frontex or The European Asylum Agency and Frontex have a growing role in supporting member states. Thanks to these instruments, the Union will be able to provide material and human resources to improve the effectiveness of asylum procedures in full respect for individuals rights. The Union will also have a crisis reserve to be able to help a member state if there is pressure from migration, and they'll be able to do it very rapidly.

SOUNDBITE (Spanish), Diana RIBA I GINER (Greens/EFA, ES), In many cases. It is regional authorities who bear responsibility for rolling out policies. And we are glad that the budget is going up for us. But the regulation, unfortunately, only lays down a minimum of 20 per cent for the solidarity a goal and five percent goes to local and regional authorities. It's becoming more and more plain to see that the challenge is being faced by Europe can only be grappled with by taking a multilevel approach where all stakeholders, including local and regional authorities, civil society, are brought on board in setting up a more solid Europe and one based on solidarity at that.
