European governments rejected US plans to acquire Greenland, warning that it would undermine sovereignty, NATO cohesion, and transatlantic security. Many EU governments, as well as Denmark, have stated that decisions on Greenland’s status rest exclusively with Denmark and Greenland, emphasised the importance of collective, NATO-led Arctic security, and cautioned against unilateral actions that could destabilise allied relations and regional stability. The authorities of Denmark and Greenland reiterated that Greenland is not for sale and called instead for cooperation. Greenland is an autonomous territory of Denmark.

MEPs debate with Council and Commission representatives ways to promote and protect the EU’s digital rules and reduce tech dependency on non-EU actors. The debate focuses on the importance of building a secure and autonomous digital economy and of implementing the EU’s digital rules in full. These rules include the Digital Services and Digital Markets Acts, the AI Act, the Cyber Resilience Act, the Data Act, the Chips Act and the Crypto-assets rules. MEPs call on the Commission to make full use of its regulatory powers, to maintain the highest standards for its citizens and businesses and to step up investment in EU digital infrastructure. Since the EU-US trade agreement was reached over the summer, pressure to defend the EU’s digital rulebook has been rising. Promoting EU digital rules: protecting European sovereignty: MEPs debate

MEPs lay out their expectations for the upcoming North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit in The Hague on 24-26 June, in a debate with the Commission.
