SOUNDBITE (English), Roberta METSOLA, EP President, This partnership agreement that we are signing today, says it all. The European Parliament and European representatives from both private and public organisations are working together. With the same purpose: to defend democracy and to get Europeans out to vote. After the election, there will be 720 MEPs coming here to Brussels, 50 more than today. Who those people are and what they stand for will be decisive for our future. They will shape policies and adopt legislation that will affect us all.

But in a world where war is no longer unthinkable and fewer people live in a democracy than outside of one, we should not take Europe or the right to vote for granted. We have a collective responsibility. It matters that Europeans vote. It matters for our freedom and rights. With current global geopolitical challenges, European citizens know that these elections are fundamental. People understand that there is a lot at stake. They share this growing sense of urgency and importance
