SOUNDBITE (English), Pernille WEISS (EPP, DK), My impression is that that Brazil really wants to have this MERCOSUR deal signed, which is good because the Paris agreement is part of that agreement. And so that's the MERCOSUR agreement is a way for Europe to actually engage MERCOSUR countries and also BOLSONARO as the prime minister of Brazil into the decarbonisation project, that should be a collective shared responsibility of all countries in the world. But I also hear that the Brazilian government is speculating in that they will not make this green transition without very simply said paid for it. And that's where we need to to hear from the Brazilian government that they actually understand the possibilities that are in the MERCOSUR deal. I mean, trading, to have trade agreements, and also that's the logic from the European single market, is that when we trade with each other, we don't kill each other. We don't have war. And we can also, by trading with each other we can heal the climate.

SOUNDBITE (English), Pernille WEISS (EPP, DK),  It's a very technical COP, It's about article six and how we count emissions without double counting, without the cheating in the books. So I really hope that we will succeed for that because when we have done that job, we can raise the aims, the goals even higher. Because with the Article 6 that is agreed upon, we can actually go out and do the climate change.

SOUNDBITE (English), Pernille WEISS (EPP, DK),  The rest of the world is actually extra looking at Europe, looking at the EU to be the motor, be the role model. And of course, I am also happy that the Euroepan Green deal was launched yesterday, it really pushed the atmosphere.
