Twelve COD LEX texts are scheduled to be signed on Thursday, 11 April 2024, by President Metsola and Ms Hadja LAHBIB, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Foreign Trade and the Federal Cultural Institutions, with the exception of two files which will be signed by Ms Valérie DE BUE , Minister for the Civil Service, Tourism, Heritage and Road Safety (Government of Federation Wallonia-Brussels), and Mr Benjamin DALLE, Minister for Brussels, Youth, Media and Poverty Reduction (Flemish Government), on behalf of the Belgian Presidency.

MEPs debate and take a final vote on the reform of the EU electricity market to protect consumers from sudden price shocks and on new rules to facilitate the uptake of renewable and low-carbon gases, including hydrogen, on the EU’s gas market. First part of MEPs debate.

Framework for ensuring a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials: MEPs debate part 1

MEPs discuss with Commission and Council representatives whether the EU’s sanctions against Russia are working, and how to prevent their circumvention by Moscow. Following Russia's illegal and unprovoked full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the European Union swiftly adopted unprecedentedly tough sanctions against Moscow. There have since been 11 sanctions packages in total, Moscow has however found ways to bypass these measures, including through loopholes in trade restrictions and with the help of third-country intermediaries. The Committees on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) and the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) hold a joint public hearing with Ms Iliana IVANOVA, Commissioner-designate for innovation, research, culture, education and youth. Ivanova has been named by the Bulgarian Government to substitute the former Commissioner Maryia Gabriel who left the office on the 15th of may 2023.
