Next item on the agenda are the oral questions of the Commission and the Council, first of all a global ban on animal testing for cosmetics.

SOUNDBITE (Finnish), Sirpa PIETIK&#196;INEN (EPP, FI), rapporteur, Therefore the Parliament asks both the Council and the Commission to act actively in order to create a global ban on animal testing for cosmetics. We need an international agreement within the framework of the United Nations, we need standards and we need a global campaign in order to create a global ban on animal testing for cosmetics.

We are thinking carefully on how to do this best. A global ban is, of course one option but we will consider others and of course I will keep you informed and involved as our thinking develops.

Vote on the global ban on animal testing for cosmetics resolution. Approved. In favour for the resolution: 620, and 14 against, with 18 abstention MEPs.
