Over 1,5 million citizens supported the European Citizens' Initiative, 'Fur Free Europe’, which calls for an EU ban on the keeping and killing of animals for the sole or main purpose of fur production. The organisers also seek to prohibit selling fur from these animals, as well as products containing this fur across the Union. Negotiators have been struggling to agree on rules to support small farmers and make the agriculture sector greener. It has been nearly three years that the EU has been trying to reform its Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), which will make up roughly one-third of the EU's 2021-2027 budget.
