SOUNDBITE (French), Michel DANTIN (EPP, FR), <p align="left">I would not go so far as the Commission&rsquo;s proposal in terms of risks within households. Of course there are proven risks when it comes to places hosting fragile population, such as homes for old people, nurseries, and schools or places where there is an intermittent use of the premises, such as conference centres welcoming large groups of people at once. Here we need have a different approach and a monitoring, but I would not monitor every single household as Commission is proposing.</p>

SOUNDBITE (French), Michel DANTIN (EPP, FR), I think we also need more clarity in this text about the responsibility of each partner, specially by recognising to the Member States the full capacity to assess the respect of the standards of quality of water and to determine whether there is a risk for human health.

SOUNDBITE (English), Rory PALMER (S&amp;D, UK), <p>The thing that has to drive this Directive and will drive our approach to it is the fact that in 2018 in the European Union, every citizen, everywhere, should be able to enact that right to clean, safe, affordable, drinking water. The Commission has our support in using the renewal of this directive to respond to the important issues of &ldquo;The right to water&rdquo;, Citizens&rsquo; Initiative, whose has raised important issues that should not be overlooked.</p>

SOUNDBITE (English), Benedek J&#193;VOR (Greens/EFA, HU), I believe that for example the endocrinal destructors are really an important problem in particular for the aphotic environment and we should seize the opportunity to address them here as well, and not only in the Water Framework Directive. If we put them on the watch list there will the no remedial action in relation with this Directive.
