Statement by Antonio TAJANI, EP President on the Europe Day: IT-FR

SOUNDBITE (Italian), Antonio TAJANI, <p>Saying that today the 9th of May is the Day of Europe, we are proud of what we have achieved in the last 70 years, peace, freedom and democracy. And we should use this time to reflect on those aspects that don't work out. We need to give security to our citizens in the next months and years. We need to resolve unemployment, fight against terrorism and tackle problems of immigration. Taken into account and being proud our values and our history we should be able to advance and to give concrete answers to our half Billion citizens in the EU.</p>  <p></p>

We have defended those values in this world, we are the only continent where there is no death penalty. This is not enough, we need to relfect on our actions for tomorrow, as we need to resolve unemployment, fight against terrorism and tackle problems of immigration. Taken into account and being also proud of our values and our history we should be able to advance and give concrete answers to our citizens.
