On the fifth of June, we celebrate World Environment Day. Over the past five decades, that day has grown to be one of the largest global platforms for environmental outreach. 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of World Environment Day. Tens of millions of people take part, along with governments, companies, cities and community organisations. This year the host is Côte d'Ivoire in partnership with the Netherlands, and they will focus on solutions to counter plastic pollution with the campaign #BeatPlasticPollution.

Cada 5 de junio celebramos el Día Mundial del Medio Ambiente. En sus cincuenta años de existencia, este evento se ha convertido en una de las mayores plataformas a nivel global para concienciar sobre el medio ambiente. Este año celebramos su 50.º aniversario. Decenas de millones de personas participan en el evento, junto con Gobiernos, empresas, ciudades y estructuras comunitarias. En esta ocasión, el país anfitrión es Costa de Marfil en colaboración con los Países Bajos; y el tema central, las soluciones para combatir la contaminación por plásticos, con la campaña #BeatPlasticPollution.

Dagen har gennem det seneste halve århundrede vokset sig større og større og er nu en af de største globale platforme for øget miljøbevidsthed. 2023 markerer 50-året for Verdensmiljødagen. Millioner af mennesker deltager, og blandt dem er regeringer, virksomheder, byer og samfundsorganisationer. I år er Elfenbenskysten vært for dagen i samarbejde med Nederlandene, og de vil fokusere på, hvordan man kan løse problemet med plastforurening. Det gør de med kampagnen #BeatPlasticPollution.

Sel aastal korraldab üritust Elevandiluurannik koostöös Madalmaadega. Kampaaniaga #BeatPlasticPollution keskendutakse tänavu plastireostusega võitlemise viisidele.

Piątego czerwca obchodzimy Światowy Dzień Środowiska. W przeciągu ostatnich pięćdziesięciu lat dzień ten stał się wyjątkową okazją, by informować obywateli o stanie środowiska. W 2023 roku Światowy Dzień Środowiska świętujemy już po raz pięćdziesiąty. W jego obchodach biorą udział miliony obywateli, a także przedstawiciele rządów, przedsiębiorstw, miast i organizacji społeczności lokalnych. W tym roku gospodarzem obchodów jest Wybrzeże Kości Słoniowej we współpracy z Holandią. Głównym ich tematem jest zaś walka z zanieczyszczeniem plastikiem, a to za sprawą kampanii ONZ #BeatPlasticPollution.

Petega junija praznujemo svetovni dan okolja. V zadnjih petdesetih letih je ta dan postal eden najpomembnejših dogodkov za ozaveščanje varstvu okolja po vsem svetu. Letos mineva 50 let od prvega svetovnega dneva okolja. Praznovanju se bo pridružilo več deset milijonov ljudi, skupaj z vladami, podjetji, mesti in organizacijami skupnosti. Letošnja gostiteljica prireditev ob dogodku je Slonokoščena obala, ki bo v sodelovanju z Nizozemsko, v okviru kampanje, ki poteka pod ključnikom #BeatPlasticPollution oziroma odpravimo onesnaževanje s plastiko, iskala načine za boj proti onesnaževanju s plastiko.

Petog lipnja obilježavamo Svjetski dan zaštite okoliša. Tijekom proteklih pet desetljeća taj je dan postao jedna od najvećih globalnih platformi za razvoj svijesti o okolišu. Ove 2023. po jubilarni 50. put obilježavamo Svjetski dan zaštite okoliša. U njemu će sudjelovati deseci milijuna građana, vlada, poduzeća, gradova i lokalnih zajednica. Ovogodišnja zemlja domaćin je Côte d'Ivoire u partnerstvu s Nizozemskom, a naglasak će biti na rješenjima za suzbijanje onečišćenja plastikom kroz kampanju #BeatPlasticPollution.

Egy ENSZ-kezdeményezés nyomán éppen 50 éve kezdődött ez a hagyomány: ilyenkor világszerte emberek milliói, kormányok, városok, szervezetek, cégek és közösségek gondolják végig, hogyan tehetnének többet a környezetért. Az idei ünnepi rendezvénysorozat fő házigazdája Elefántcsontpart és Hollandia, központi gondolata pedig – a #BeatPlasticPollution kampány jegyében – a műanyagszennyezés felszámolása.

Alle celebrazioni partecipano infatti decine di milioni di persone, oltre ai rappresentanti di governi, imprese, città e organizzazioni della società civile. Costa d'Avorio, in collaborazione con Paesi Bassi, ospiti dell'evento nel 2023, anno del 50° anniversario Focus sulle soluzioni per contrastare l'inquinamento da plastica con la campagna #BeatPlasticPollution.

Giornata mondiale dell'ambiente 2023 - italiano

David Sassoli was born in Florence on May 30, 1956. He started working as a journalist at small newspapers and news agencies, before moving to the editorial office of Il Giorno in Rome, where he worked for seven years. In 1992, he began working as a television news reporter and correspondent for TG3.

Subsequently he worked on news programmes on Rai Uno and Rai Due, before joining the editorial staff of TG1 in 1999 as a special correspondent. Over the next 10 years, he was responsible for managing prime time news broadcasts, and covering major national and international events. In 2007, he became Deputy Director of TG1 and responsible for in-depth programmes TV7 and TG1 Special.

When the Partito Democratico (PD) was formed in 2007, he considered it the right place for his political commitment. On 7 June 2009, he was elected to the European Parliament as a member for central Italy. In the 2009-2014 legislature, he was head of delegation of the Partito Democratico in the European Parliament.

In 2014, he was re-elected as an MEP and was elected Vice-President of the European Parliament, with responsibility for Mediterranean Policy, the budget, and buildings. He was a member of the Committee for Transport and Tourism, and led on European railway reform (4th Railway Package), and the Single European Sky.

In May 2019, he began his third term as an MEP for central Italy and on 3 July, he was elected President of the European Parliament. He passed away on 11 January 2022.&nbsp;

On Wednesday 11th January 2023, the EP payed tribute to David Sassoli´s memory with a ceremony at the European Parliament.

Launched on 20 May 2020, the 'Farm to Fork' strategy put forward the EU’s ambition for making its food system a model of sustainability at all stages of the food value chain.

This strategy is at the heart of the Green Deal. It addresses comprehensively the challenges of sustainable food systems and recognises the inextricable links between healthy people, healthy societies and a healthy planet. Ensuring a sustainable livelihood for primary producers, who still lag behind in terms of income, is essential for the success of the recovery and the transition.

The Farm to Fork strategy aims to accelerate our transition to a sustainable food system that should have neutral and positive environmental impact, help mitigate climate change and adapt to its impact. It should also reverse the loss of biodiversity, ensure food security, nutrition and public health, making sure that everyone has access to sufficient, safe nutritious, sustainable food, preserve affordability of food while generating fairer economic returns, fostering competitivness of the EU supply sector and promoting fair trade.

A shift to a sustainable food system can bring environmental, health and social benefits, offer economic gains and ensure that the recovery from the crisis puts us onto a sustainable path.

Farm to fork

This storybook is about a little girl, Anna, who is starting school in a new country and learning the local language through immersion. The audiobook and e-book versions are available in the 24 EU official languages. While the target audience is 3-6 year olds, this storybook could also be useful for older children learning to read, whether in their first EU language or in another one.

To begin the countdown to the next European Parliament elections, taking place 6-9 June 2024, Parliament publish a new public survey. The 2023 Spring Eurobarometer will focus on the support of citizens for democracy and their awareness of the elections as well as on their priorities and perception of the EU. The European Parliament presents its Spring 2023 Eurobarometer survey showing citizens’ strong support for democracy and a high awareness of the upcoming European elections. One year ahead of the next European elections, public interest in these elections has measurably increased. A clear majority of citizens (56%) are interested in the next European elections, 6 points higher compared to 2018, one year before the last European elections. Around two thirds of respondents (67%) say they would be likely to vote if the European elections were held next week. A similar question was included in the EP Eurobarometer survey in April 2018, when 58% said they were likely to do so, indicating that citizens are currently more inclined to vote in the 2024 European elections than they were at a similar point in time before the 2019 elections.
