During the meeting of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) in the EP in Brussels, MEPs vote an update of EU privacy protection rules to cover new means of communication, such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Skype. Among the issues at stake are the use of cookies, unsolicited direct marketing sent, for example, via SMS, and end-to-end encryption in digital communication.
