SOUNDBITE (French), Alain LAMASSOURE (EPP, FR), We have the impression that things are getting worse, with increasing difficulties for both parties to engage again in the peace process. At the same time there are positive elements, first of all , one has to recognise that the Palestinian Authority does a good job in preparing the set up of all admininstrative and political instruments in order to set up a State. Salam Fayyad made agood impression to us, he is a constructive man , he thinks about the future and not the past, he is very realistic. 

SOUNDBITE (French), Alain LAMASSOURE (EPP, FR), Our vision of Nablus area shows that there is a significant economic boom since the withdrawal of the Isrealis and the security and poice forces that are trained by the EU are ready to perform with a good level of security in cisjordan. at the same time on the Israeli side we see that opinions differ but there is a will for peace , what worries us and we told the Israeli authorities is the contradiction between a will to reach the creation of both States which is the objective since the Oslo aggreements and on the field the multiplication of colonies and also and let's hope that it will be temporary, the multtiplication of checkpoints, and other difficulties which prevent the Palestinians to have a normal life, and very often Palestian women, children, workers, students find themselves in a difficult situation.
